Student Saves Life Just Days After Learning CPR
Just days after learning CPR, a student in New York was able to use it to save a life.
Anthony Rosa Compres, a high school student, learned CPR recently from his teacher, Oswaldo De La Cruz. All students in the state must learn CPR before graduating high school.
Less than two weeks later, Compres was a block away from his school when he was able to do CPR on someone.
“I feel very proud,” Compres told Pix 11.
He has also received praise from others, including the American Heart Association.
“It’s great anytime,” said Mark Hurley, an American Heart Association spokesman. “You hear a success story like ‘I just learned CPR two weeks ago and I used it to save someone’ and that proves that it works.”
De La Cruz said he’s also saved lives with CPR.
