UPDATE: Steve Jobs, the Apple Inc. visionary and technology industry pioneer, died Wednesday, Oct. 5.

It is rumored that Apple CEO Steve Jobs has “six weeks to live” and was allegedly seen entering the Stanford Cancer Center in Palo Alto, Calif., according to the tabloid National Enquirer.

The photos published by the National Enquirer showed a frail and thin man that closely resembles Jobs, although the person’s identity is not confirmed.

The Enquirer also quoted two doctors who claimed that the technology genius only has six weeks to live and that he is “losing his battle” against cancer. But these doctors have never personally met with Jobs and are making predictions completely based on the unverified photos.

President Obama and Jobs met today in Silicon Valley, along with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Google CEO Eric Schmidt and other tech leaders to discuss the economy. Jobs was well enough to dine with the president, which makes the Enquirer’s claim that Jobs “is close to terminal” questionable.

Jobs has had cancer in the past, and he is currently on medical leave from Apple, so it is possible that his cancer has come back. However, his current health condition cannot be confirmed.

Although the National Enquirer report on Steve Jobs could be just a rumor, it may have had an impact on Apple’s stocks. Shares of Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) fell 1.33 percent ($4.83) in Thursday trading, closing at $358.30.
