Two big hitters have teamed up to bring the best of grassroots sports podcasting to the masses. SB Nation is a blogging network with about 320 sports bloggers. BlogTalk Radio (BTR) has enabled the bloggers to create their own radio shows.
“Fans … love talking about sports, so what we are doing at BTR is enabling that to happen,” BTR founder and CEO Alan Levy told Epoch Times. “We are not just a distribution platform, we are [also] an enabling technology platform. We are aggregating all of SB Nation’s channels.”
SB Nation and BTR began delivering 70 podcasts from across the nation last month.
The content creators have a studio at home—all operated through their web browser. BTR presents a dashboard view, allowing creators to record guests, screen callers, and everything a radio show host needs.
“Once it is done, it is then recorded and published as a podcast and pushed to iTunes,” Levy explained. “We are the largest contributor of podcasts on iTunes.”
BTR plans to expand its presence into the technology sector in the near future.
Earlier this year, BTR Editorial Director Craig Marks commented on PandoWeekly, a BTR tech podcast. Marks said in a press release: “The PandoWeekly podcast is sure to be a must-listen for Silicon Valley and Beyond.”
BTR covers a wide variety of topics, with more than 2 million radio shows broadcast since its inception in 2006.
