CHANGHUA, Taiwan—Shen Yun Peforming Arts Touring Company performed at the Changhua County Yuanlin Performance Hall on the evening of April 2 on the final leg of its seventh Taiwan tour. Long before Shen Yun arrived at Yuanlin, it had caused quite a stir among its numerous fans who were looking forward to its magnificent performances.

Mr. Cheng Ching-Yi, Chairman of the Sports Development Association, attended the show along with his wife, children, and parents-in-law. Mr. Cheng was especially moved by the story about a Western father and his daughter depicted in An Unexpected Encounter. “When seeing the program, I was almost in tears,” he said.

Seeing a Shen Yun performance for the first time, Mr. Cheng praised every program as “exquisite.” He also said that the cultural connotations demonstrated in the dances really touched his heart: “I find that every piece is splendid, and each dancer’s performance is full of strength and beauty.”

Also carried away by vocalists’ beautiful voices, he added, “I listened to it with my eyes closed, and I was fully enthralled by it. I felt that the acoustical harmony really amazed me.”

“I was deeply moved by the dance piece, An Unexpected Encounter. It almost sent me to tears seeing the Western father and his daughter being taken away,“ he explained. ”It is not meant to be like that. Human beings should be compassionate, and they should not be suppressed or persecuted.”

Mr. Cheng was choked up when he said, “I don’t know how to express my feelings. It is beyond words. Seeing the scene, I cannot help shedding tears.”

As a devout Buddhist, Mr. Cheng felt a special connection to the night’s opening program Descending to the World and the last program Divine Mercy. “All of humankind can be saved as long as they are willing to,” he concluded.
