Dwayne Johnson’s New Film ‘Skyscraper’ Will Be in Theaters in July
In his new film “Skyscraper,” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson portrays a former FBI hostage rescue team leader and U.S. war veteran amputee Will Sawyer, who now assesses security for skyscrapers.
Johnson’s character finds that the world’s tallest (3500 ft, 1066 m), safest building, The Pearl, is suddenly ablaze, and he’s been framed for it. Sawyer must find out who is responsible for the fire and clear his name, as well as somehow rescue his family who is trapped inside the building above the fire line.
It turns out that terrorists have set fire to the 96th floor. In order to get to his family, Sawyer takes a leap of faith from an adjacent crane across the air and lands on the building.
The Universal Pictures film is a 3D action-thriller directed, written and produced by Rawson Marshall Thurber. A standard version will also be available.
In addition to the popular action-packed scenes that Johnson is usually involved with, the movie also celebrates the trust, love, humor, devotion and affection between family members.
The film centers around a 240-floor building that has its own wind turbine and can function as a self-contained city in the sky. Universal Pictures even made a website for the building as if it really exists in Hong Kong, with a 6-story mall, theater, golf practice area, garden, luxury apartment units, observation desk, 70 elevators, and more. It also indicates that there should be 300 security staff members working there 24-7.
Neve Campbell stars as Sarah Sawyer, Will’s wife in the movie.
“Skyscraper” will be in theaters on July 13 in the US.
