What would you do if you received a $1,000 tip? For one Indiana mother, the decision was a no-brainer. She decided to pay it forward.

Everything was slow on the night of July 21 at the Hotel Nashville in Indiana when waitress Anna Hofstetter, 30, met a sweet couple, who were celebrating their wedding anniversary.

The couple sat down for dinner and ordered Long Island iced teas, a crab artichoke appetizer, and the dinner special. They got married right at that restaurant seven years ago.

Hofstetter struck up a conversation with the couple. She revealed she’s a single mother working three jobs to support her two children.

Hofstetter certainly didn’t expect her personal story would prompt them to reward her with a surprisingly big tip.

On the couple’s $32.40 receipt, Hofstetter was startled to see $1,000 written in the tip column.

At the bottom, the couple scribbled, “Give something to the kids.”

“I said, ‘Thank you so much, you have no idea how much this means to me,’” Hofstetter said, as reported by Fox News.

What did Hofstetter do with the money?

Instead of spending the money on her own kids, Hofstetter used it to benefit all the children in her community by donating that $1,000 to “Kids on Wheels”—a fundraiser led by Clara Stanley, the board president of Brown County Enrichment for Teens Association (BETA), and a group of teens to build a skate park in Nashville.

Just the three of us, we can make it if we try

“Single mom! Working three jobs! But she put her dream out there and said Clara I really want to help you guys!” Stanley told WTHR.

Hofstetter “feels great” to pay it forward. She hopes her story will inspire others to do the same by helping the teens raise funds for the skate park.

Hopefully, their wish to build a skate park will be granted!
