SEMICON West is a three-day event held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco focusing on semiconductor technology. The conference was held from July 10–12 and draws in professionals, companies, and attendees from around the world.

Simplimatic Automation displayed its new Fanuc® Sr3-iA SCARA robot and examples of conveyor systems and robotic automation products.

“We are a material handling and robotic automation company … Simplimatic focuses on automating a lot of back-end processes used in semiconductor manufacturing,” said Kevin Welsch, marketing director.

One of the products showcased on the exhibition floor was the Fanuc® Sr3-iA SCARA robot. This robot is an automated robot assembly cell.

The Fanuc® Sr3-iA SCARA robot is capable of rapid pick-and-place operations, as seen in a demonstration at Simplimatic Automation’s booth.

According to the company, the robot can be used as a standalone or as part of a customized automation system.

The other product present at the conference was a Mobile Industrial Robot (MiR), specifically an AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot). The AMR can be autonomous or remote controlled.

The MiRs can provide various functions for manufacturers and be equipped with other custom parts that aid in screw driving, picking and placing, adhering, sorting, and more.

Simplimatic Automation’s products are customizable to fit a customer’s requirements, making their products adaptable to a variety of different needs.

“Simplimatic really specializes in trying to meet with customers, find out what needs they have and the actual manufacturing space, and designing a custom system that can help solve those solutions,” explained Welsch.

Everything Simplimatic Automation manufactures is built in the United States. The robots that the company integrates are manufactured in Japan and Denmark.

Beginning in 1965 in Lynchburg, Virginia by developing conveyor and automation systems for the bottling industry, Simplimatic Automation has been dedicated to designing and manufacturing various robots and conveyor and automation systems.

In 1989, Simplimatic Automation launched its first line of SMT conveyors and board handling equipment. Since then the company has expanded into the printed circuit board and semiconductor manufacturing markets.

Simplimatic Automation’s mission is to “provide conveyor systems, robotics, and custom factory automation to a variety of manufacturing, assembly, and packaging operations worldwide.”
