LONDON—Solicitor Paul Gulbenkian and his friend, former shipping company officer Linda Ascard, were impressed with the unique quality of New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company’s performance at The London Coliseum on April 6.

“I’ve been to Hong Kong many times and seen Chinese shows there but this is special,” commented Mr. Gulbenkian.

Mr. Gulbenkian said that the shows he previously saw in Hong Kong and China lacked the athleticism and grace that Shen Yun provided. The Shen Yun dancers were “almost gymnasts as well as ballet dancers.”

Ms. Ascard was also struck by the beauty and gracefulness of the dancing and said the music was lovely.

Underpinning Shen Yun Performing Arts is a revival of traditional Chinese culture through story-based classical Chinese dance.

“The character references go back to the history, then ancient times. I don’t know much about it, to be honest, but what I’ve seen is very, very nice,” Ms. Ascard said.

New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company will next perform in The Hague, Netherlands, at the Lucent Danstheater, on April 12 and 14. For more information, visit ShenYunPerformingArts.org
