LOUISVILLE, Kentucky—The premier of Shen Yun Performing Arts in Louisville, Sunday evening, March 7, was warmly greeted by enthusiastic theatergoers. On this warm, misty spring evening, the near capacity, well-dressed audience crowded into the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.

Mr. William Klump and Mrs. Barbara Klump came to see Shen Yun to celebrate a special event. “We came for my wife’s birthday and we wanted to do something special. This show is spectacular! The colors, the dance, the singing, it’s all just wonderful,” said Mr. Klump, who owns a CPA firm.

After experiencing the performance of the New York-based Shen Yun, Mrs. Klump, a special needs teacher said, “Oh, I loved it!” She said that she learned about Shen Yun through brochures at her school.

“Shen Yun Performing Arts is a triumph of collaboration, bringing together leading dancers, choreographers, and musicians from around the world,” according to the official Shen Yun Web site. Through story telling using classical Chinese dance, beautiful costumes, original music, state-of-the art backdrops, and vocalists, Shen Yun brings to life China’s five–millennia-old culture and its universal values.

Mrs. Klump said she appreciated seeing classical Chinese culture presented through Shen Yun’s performances.

“It’s just terrific. I loved everything,” she said.

“I would recommend this as something that everyone should see. It’s wonderful.”

‘This is very interesting to me’

Ms. Nguyen, a claims auditor with Humana, brought her daughter to see Shen Yun. Being of Asian ethnicity, she felt her daughter could benefit from seeing Shen Yun. “I think it’s great! Especially this classical Chinese dance. I’m a mix of Chinese and Vietnamese, so this is very interesting to me.”

Two dances in the performance tell contemporary stories about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China. Nothing Can Block the Divine Path deeply moved Ms. Nguyen . “Buddha came and rescued them. If you’re good Buddha will protect you.”

She concluded by saying, “The dances are awesome and the colors are beautiful!”

Shen Yun will be performing next on March 9 and 10, at 7:00 p.m., at the Murat Theatre, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
