KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Shen Yun Performing Arts “gives you a great introduction to the culture ... and what means a great deal to them,” Marla Worthington said at intermission at the Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company’s performance at the Music Hall in Kansas City on April 13. Mrs. Worthington attended the performance with her husband, Lonnie.
The couple joked that they reside on 1-35 as he is the director of engineering at a manufacturing firm in Emporia, KS, and she is a property administrator in Kansas City, Mo. They commute back and forth to be together. Tonight’s performance was part of an early celebration for Mr. Worthington’s birthday.
Shen Yun is based out of New York and is dedicated to bringing forth authentic Chinese culture through classical Chinese, ethnic, and folk dance and music.
Mr. Worthington found the precision of Shen Yun interesting. “The precision dancing, very interesting. The music is wonderful, and again it’s the precision.”
“It is very, very entertaining,” Mrs. Worthington said. “I love the costumes and they really make some of the numbers.”
She also noted the energy of the performers. “The energy that the performers have is great.”
Shen Yun is embarking on its largest number of performances in a Midwest city with 10 shows at Chicago’s Civic Opera House from April 15-24. For more information, visit ShenYunPerformingArts.org
