ADELAIDE, Australia—It was the premier performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on April 6, and Ms. Hicks, a visual artist, was among the audience.

“I think it was very beautiful, very moving, very spiritual and aesthetically pleasing,” she said.

“Incredible dancing.”

She had not seen a traditional Chinese performance before, so found it an eye-opener. “It’s beautiful to have it brought to us. Because you don't get a lot of opportunity to see this sort of thing. Yes, it’s very deep, very, very deep,” she said.

How would she sum it up, and what would she say to a wider audience who hadn’t heard of Shen Yun? “Well I think it’s profound, I think it’s very beautiful, aesthetical in a way we don’t have it in the West, it’s just very enlightening.

“I don’t know how to summarize it,” she said in the end. Just that, “this is very, very beautiful.”
