Shaun White and his new band are going on tour soon, and have two major festivals lined up.

The band, Bad Things, is slated to perform at SXSW (South by Southwest) in Texas in March and the Firefly Festival in Delaware in June. Other dates have yet to be announced.

White famously told reporters after getting fourth in the snowboarding halfpipe competition at this year’s Olympics that he’s dropping snowboarding for now to focus on the band.

He said in an interview posted on the Team USA website that the music has helped him with his sports career.

“The music and playing in the band has definitely given me that distraction to where I come back and I’m excited,” he said, noting that he was doing shorter training runs since he’s older.

Bad Things dropped an album on Warner Bros. Records in January.

White told Rolling Stone that he’s focused on the band.

“I drop everything for these guys,” he said. “Shoots, practice, anything I need to do. Because it’s a very serious thing for us.”

And the transition now to music will be a complete one.

“That’s what I normally do,” he notes. “I stop snowboarding and I completely dive into skating. I forget everything about snowboarding – my competitors and what I’ve gotta do in the upcoming season – and I focus completely on skateboarding. And that’s how it’s been for music.”
