Restaurant owners in San Francisco are mourning the death of Anthony Bourdain, who committed suicide on June 8.

Host of the popular TV Show No Reservation, Bourdain traveled the world tasting food for a living.

Small restaurants are thankful to Bourdain for legitimizing  their food. “To a newer generation, he put us back on the map, which was an honor,” said Tiffany Pisoni, owner of Red’s Java House on the Embarcadero.

A few miles away at Swan Oyster Depot, which Bourdain often visited, the line stretched up Polk Street. “I heard the sad news this morning and skated over to pay some respects,” said Caleb Pierson.

Kevin Sancimino, owner of the Swan Oyster Depot, is also thankful to Bourdain. “To have probably the prominent food authority in the country telling the world he loves your place is, it’s an incredible compliment,” he said.
