William and Kate, the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are tipped to visit New Zealand next year at the time of the Queen’s diamond jubilee celebrations.

While the Palace has said that the queen will not be reducing her commitments, William and Kate are happy to represent the 85-year old Queen relieving her of some of her duties, reported the Sun.

The Queen traditionally visits the Commonwealth countries during the celebrations. The jubilee marks 60 years that the Queen has been on the throne.

Although a big rugby fan William will be unable to attend the World Cup in September as he is due to begin work in the Falkland Islands.

The Sun reported that Buckingham Palace and Foreign Office staff were taking advantage of the couple’s visit to New Zealand to build on the popularity of the Royal Wedding which had been viewed worldwide by two billion people.

However Kate’s desire to come to New Zealand as expressed to Prime Minister John Key after the Royal Wedding will be fulfilled, and it will give New Zealander’s a chance to see the Royal couple down-under for the first time.

William and Kate will also visit Australia and the Caribbean, reported news.msn.co.nz
