Angela Simmons, reality television star from the We TV series “Growing Up Hip Hop,” lost the father of her child and her ex-fiancé in a fatal shooting on Saturday, Nov. 3.

Sutton Tennyson, 37, was shot and killed in a garage in southwest Atlanta, Georgia. Police told FOX 5 Atlanta that they responded to a call saying shots were fired at a house on the 600 block of Jewel Drive on Saturday afternoon.

According to a police statement obtained by Fox, Tennyson was shot several times after an argument, and the shooter then fled the scene in a car. Police said no arrests have been made.

“Thank you for leaving behind my greatest gift. I’m hurting. I’m numb,” wrote 31-year-old Simmons in an Instagram post showing a picture of Tennyson and their 2-year-old son Sutton Jr.

“Thank you for the outpouring of love everyone. I can’t believe I’m even saying Rest In Peace Sutton. I promise to hold SJ down in every way I promise,” she wrote.

Tennyson and Simmons were previously engaged but they called it off in 2017, according to TMZ.

In addition to “Growing Up Hip Hop,” Simmons also starred on MTV reality shows “Run’s House” and “Daddy’s Girls,” and more recently hosted “Fashion News Live” and co-hosted “The Real” talk show. She is also a fashion designer and has 5.5 million followers on Instagram.

Simmons’s father is hip-hop legend Joseph Simmons, also known as “Reverend Run” or “DJ Run.” He was one of the founders of Run DMC, a popular music group in the 1980s, and also an ordained minister.

“I just remembered your last words you said to me when I saw you last ‘Hold it down bruh,’” wrote Joseph in a post on Instagram in memory of Tennyson.

“I didn’t know I would have to hold it down this way. God works in crazy ways but I’m here to be the man for your son to look up to and call whenever he needs me!”

Simmons’s uncle is Joseph’s older brother and record producer Russell Simmons—co-founder of Def Jam Recordings. The family is considered to have had a significant influence on the music industry.

The reality star also posted a heartbreaking video online of her adorable young son watching videos of his late father on a phone and giggling.
