NEW YORK—As beautiful as the metropolitan aspect of New York City is, the 1700 parks provide a bit of nature, a bit of relaxation, and a bit of running space in the middle of the sprawling metropolis. New Yorkers enjoy 28,000 acres of parkland, which comprise 13.7 percent of the total area of the city. The Epoch Times asked New Yorkers: “Which is your favorite park in New York City?”

My favorite park in New York is Bryant Park. I’m from upstate and it’s right by Grand Central Station, so it was just convenient, it was right there when we got into the station. We’d come into town and just hang out at the park.

Hudson River Park, near Chelsea Piers. It’s right by the water and there’s a good view of the city. I’m a Chelsea girl.

Central Park—it’s the best. On a day off, if you can’t get out of town, it’s the best place to relax.

Central Park. I like the bike paths, the playground, the baseball diamond. There’s a lot going on.

Central Park. I grew up in the city and I hung out there my whole life. It was my playground. I’ve seen great free concerts there—Pavarotti, Simon and Garfunkel. They’re ruining it to make it better now—all for the tourists, I guess. Everything is fenced off now. They’re closing down the softball diamond, there are more regulations, more police barricades at the concerts.

I’m interested in the KaBOOM playgrounds. There are a few of them around the city. They have [many] different sizes of Lego for kids to put together and take apart, caves, houses, etc. I like to bring my parrot onto the playground and entertain the children and their parents.
