A pregnant 30-year-old Army veteran was stabbed multiple times putting her in critical condition and killing her unborn child on May 22.

Livia Abreu was in her second trimester when she was stabbed by her boyfriend, the accused, Oscar Alvarez, in her apartment at 1027 Walton Ave. in the Bronx, New York, at around 12:30 a.m. Alvarez escaped in Abreu’s Jeep Cherokee SUV shortly afterward.

Abreu went to ask a neighbor for help. They called 911 and transported her to Lincoln hospital.

Alvarez turned himself in to the police at the Transit District 11 at 4 a.m., claiming that the stabbing was an accident.

The police later found the SUV a block away and obtained the knife from the crime scene.

It is unknown whether Alvarez was the father.

Some neighbors have stated that they have never seen any friction between Abreu and Alvarez.

They would see them walking the dog every day with no problems.

But Lambert, a neighbor, has stated that she had always heard a woman screaming, and now she thinks it may have been Abreu. “It started a few months ago. A month ago someone was screaming so bad, like a woman getting beaten.” Daily News reported.

Lambert described Alvarez as very quiet, didn’t always look happy but very respectful.

The porter had recently met Abreu in the lobby, she expressed her happiness about her pregnancy and wished her mother was alive to see the baby, ABC 7 reported.

Abreu posted a sonogram of her child on Instagram, calling the baby “My little human.”

According to her social media profile, Abreu began working in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army as a human resources specialist in 2006 and until the attack worked as a retail store manager at T-Mobile.
