BURLINGTON, Vt.—A 17-year-old Vermont resident is awaiting trial on a second-degree murder charge after police say he threw one fatal punch at a 54-year-old man. Bradley Senna pleaded not guilty to the charge in the criminal division of the Chittenden Superior Court.

Prosecutors say David Hojohn died Wednesday, 11 days after an Aug. 27 confrontation in Winooski involving several people. Police say after Senna hit Hojohn, the victim fell to the ground and hit his head on concrete.

Court-appointed lawyer Dan Sedon told the court he did not believe Senna acted with the “wanton disregard” for life to warrant a murder charge.

Chittenden County Deputy State’s Attorney Susan Hardin said Senna told police, “I should have hit him harder, and I hope he dies.”
