Three of the persons recovering from the Navy Yard shooting on Monday are expected to recover.

A police officer and a civilian are both in surgery right now.

Another civilian does not need surgery and all three are expected to recover, said Janis Orlowski the chief operating officer at the Washington Hospital Center.

The police officer was still in surgery to treat gunshot wounds to his lower extremities, though Orlowski says he is expected to make a good recovery.

A second victim has a shoulder wound and also is expected to recover.

Orlowski says the third victim being treated at the hospital was shot in the head, but the bullet did not penetrate her skull.

The shooting left at least a dozen dead and injured multiple others.

Officials have IDed the shooter as Aaron Alexis of Texas

None of the victims or the injured have been identified as of yet.
