New Phone Carrier ‘Wing’ Promises Superior Customer Service
A mobile phone company founded by a group of New Yorkers advertises no contracts, no fine print, and no more Saturday afternoons wasted waiting in line for help at a store.
It may sound too good to be true, but one local startup says it is making it happen. The founders call the company Wing, and it promises to have all the benefits of the major carriers without the hassle of bad customer service.
The founders of Wing say that sub-standard service from the big four carriers–Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint–was the motivation behind their starting the company.
Co-founder, David Arabov, said, “We felt like the big four weren’t doing a good enough job,” Fox 5 NY reported.
According to their website, there’s no contracts or hidden fees with Wing. They also offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.
You can keep your existing phone, phone number, contacts, and photos if you switch over to Wing. As a wing member, you can manage your account using their app, as well as check how much data you’re using and manage your plan—adding or subtracting data as needed.
Co-founder Ilan Yarden said an advantage of Wings is that you’re not locked into a specific plan.
“If you’re sick of us in a hour, a day, a week, a month, a year, leave at your own will. We do have a 30-day money back guarantee.”
Wing’s website boasts flexible and “dynamic pricing” options. There is as a plan suited to non-smartphone users who require minimal data; they can pay $12/mo for unlimited talk and text. Whereas if you’re an international traveller, you may find the $13 per gigabite data option in your choice of over 135 countries offer appealing.
