Attendees of the exclusive Governors Ball Oscars after-party in Los Angeles are to be well satiated with both music and food.
Celebrity chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck first began catering for Hollywood’s famed Governors Ball after-party in 1994 at his bistro Spago and serves over a thousand guests at the annual event.
This year’s Governors Ball will feature miniature gold-dusted Oscars figurines made of chocolate, Oscars made of smoked salmon, and many other delectable hors d’oeuvres.
Past years were just as luscious. In 2012, for instance, Hollywood’s upper echelon was wowed by smoked salmon on flatbread with caviar and fresh cream, mini kobe cheeseburgers with remoulade and aged cheddar, and chicken pot pie, among dozens of other lush appetizers. Diners could enjoy a chocolate buffet that included mousse in golden egg cups, chocolate paninis, and last but not least, miniature Oscar trophies made of exquisite 24 karat chocolate.
The hundreds of waiters on staff mean no wait time for guests, according to a blog post by Sequoia Productions, which has produced the after-party for over 25 years.
Then in 2013, Puck tempted celebrities with huckleberry macarons, violet truffles and chocolate creme brulee with raspberries among other confections. Snacks included his signature chicken pot pie, truffle macaroni and cheese, and Japanese baby peach salad.
And of course no evening would be complete without the “official” Governors Ball cocktail, which includes fresh lime and lemon juice, champagne and a rose petal on top. The bar is covered with lipstick imprints from famous actresses over the years, including Lucille Ball and Gene Tierney.
And while everyone is feasting, the DJ for the party will be Solange Knowles, Beyoncé’s younger sister. She has played sets before that included R&B classics and latest hits. She joked on Twitter that she was googling Oprah’s favorite songs in preparation for the evening. Previous Oscars have included jazzy saxophone music and vintage DJing.
