One person was killed and four were critically injured after being struck by a sports utility vehicle on Sunday.

The incident occurred when the 72-year-old driver of the vehicle lost control of the car and ran into the crowd in front of the Pyeong AHN Presbyterian Church parking lot in the Gravesend neighborhood in Brooklyn, according to an Associated Press report.

Sung Won Cho, 40, was severely injured and died on the scene. Authorities say that the driver, who also is reported to be a member of the church, did not act out of malice and just lost control of the vehicle. The three other victims have been taken to the hospital and officials say they don’t suffer from life threatening injuries.
