The White House is looking to delay the requirement for every American to get health insurance by several weeks to March 31, according to a report.

NBC News reported that the requirement could be pushed back by as far as six weeks.

The broadcaster did not elaborate on the reason for the setback.

Since Oct. 1, only a small percentage of Americans have been able to sign up for health insurance through the exchange website Healthcare.gov. The website has been plagued by glitches, preventing people from signing up.

Chuck Todd with NBC reported that the Obama administration is looking at March 31, 2014, instead of Feb. 15, 2014, for the target date.
