After days of warnings by New York City officials, the city was spared the raging snow blizzard that paralyzed parts of the East Coast. A travel ban that went into effect Monday 11 p.m. was lifted Tuesday morning and public transportation resumed.

In most of New York City, only 10 inches of snow were recorded instead of the 24 to 36 inches predicted.

While many of the streets of Manhattan were unusual quite, some of New York’s parks saw a bustling activity as a result of the snow day called by schools and many work places.
