[xtypo_dropcap]T[/xtypo_dropcap]he third-term Eglinton-Lawrence city councillor, Karen Stintz, who is the new TTC chair, has new challenges ahead with Ford’s proposition for the scrapping of the Transit City plan and extension of the Sheppard line as part of the TTC. “We’re now taking a look at the plan and seeing if it can incorporate some of Mayor Ford’s goals,” Stintz told the Toronto Star, “I think we can get to a plan that delivers on Mayor Ford’s vision and also ensures we build transit during my term.”
One of the first things Stintz wants to see improved in the TTC system is the decongestion and cleanliness of the subways and washrooms. “(Riders) need to get there on time. They don’t need to find a seat, but they need to know they’re not going to be squished. They need to know they can use the escalators, that it’s going to be a clean and positive experience,” Stintz told the Star.
