Dutch authorities on Sunday released five Somalis they had arrested along with seven others Friday, on suspicion of plotting a terrorist attack.
According to Dutch media, police couldn’t find proof that the men were planning an attack.
The other seven Somalis remain under investigation.
Twelve Somalis were arrested Friday after intelligence services were alerted to a possible attack threat. The Dutch prosecution office said in a statement that it had received information that “some Somali nationals are planning an imminent terrorist attack in the Netherlands.”
No weapons or explosives were found when police searched an Internet café, and the homes, and motel rooms of the suspects.
In recent months Europe has been on alert over terrorist attack threats. In October the State Department issued a travel alert for Europe bound travelers due to the terror threats.
