“I think it's beautiful,” said Dr. Yeh after seeing the show. Her praise for the music accompaniment of the DPA orchestra was high: “Oh, it’s beautiful! I love it. It’s very touching, very warm, and carries a good message.”
The DPA orchestra combines Western and Chinese musical instruments to create unique and beautiful harmony. Currently it is the world’s only orchestra that has both Western and Chinese instruments.
One of her favorite dances, The Monkey King Triumphs, is a story of a journey that a Buddhist monk, a pig-like ogre, and the magical monkey king undertake to obtain Buddhist scriptures. During this dance, the DPA orchestra accents the characters’ trials and tribulations, adding depth to the performance.
“It’s very nice, especially the drama, the Sun Wukong [the monkey king] part of it. The music really corresponded to the drama, so it was very well done, almost kind of operatic—so very good” Dr. Yeh said.
Dr. Yeh enjoyed the dancing as well as the music: “I don’t know much about dancing, that’s why I don’t have too much to say. I just know that, as an artist, it feels beautiful. This art that I am seeing and feeling—[it] is very touching. The music is beautiful. It’s very touching, very warm, and good message.
When asked if she took a message away from the show, Dr. Yeh said, “I think it’s just about purity and about connecting with people and goodness and truth. So, that’s all very touching. That is what art is about for me, so it’s beautiful.
