DETROIT—“This is the best show I've ever seen,” said music director Mr.

Seadin. He was among hundreds who gave Divine Performing Arts a long standing ovation at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Detroit. “The dancing in these performances, the music, and the choreography here are beyond description.”

Music teacher Ms. Hollowell agreed. “There are no words to describe the breathtaking, indescribable beauty, the art. I've never seen anything like this in my life. We were just saying on the way to the theater that we should go see The Nutcracker next Christmas, but … we'll be here instead.”

Mr. Seadin said, “Yes, we'll be here instead, and it was just perfect to bring this show here for New Year's Eve. It's just a perfect evening.”

Mr. Seadin said he learned of Divine Performing Arts when he was handed a flyer at a local mall. “Usually I would refuse the flyer, but the young woman was dressed up in a Chinese outfit, and she looked so beautiful. I went home and looked the show up on the Internet, and I immediately said, 'Oh yeah, we're going!'”

“Just every one of them was so magnificent,” said Ms. Hollowell. She tried to choose a favorite dance or song.

“I might have to say the opening one, because the both of us just, I mean the beauty, I was immediately in tears. I couldn't breathe, and when the curtain opened and all the color and … I just can't describe it!”

Mr. Seadin felt the same way. He said, “Yeah, tears came to my eyes, the first thing. Every performance is beautiful in its own way. The costuming is absolutely amazing, and the pianist's playing. Oh, so beautiful. Such beautiful playing. And the singers. Just everything.”

“Watching this show makes me want to learn classical Chinese dance,” said Ms. Hollowell. “We were just talking during the intermission about the dance and the movement in these performances. How they move like the ocean, it's like the earth, like nature, it's like all the elements that I felt surrounded by. It gets to your heart … It's just beauty. Pure beauty!”

“It's like you're moving with the dancers,” said Mr. Seadin. “We haven't seen dancing this amazing. I've never seen classical Chinese dance before. It's so wonderful to be able to see this culture. … It's amazing!”

“To think that they are trying to destroy something like this in China,” said Mr. Seadin.

“I had heard about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China,” said Ms. Hollowell. “But there are just so many things that we ignore. It's so easy to ignore the things that go on in this world that are so heinous. That needs to stop. Horrifying. It's horrifying.” Mr. Seadin agreed, “Yes, it's terrible!”

“I would tell people to come see this show,” Ms. Hollowell. “The compassion here, the dignity, the feeling of peace. It's about Chinese culture. I think that this is a perfect way to bring it out to people. It's incredible.”
