British singer-songwriter Adele made a splash with her 2008 debut album “19.” Building momentum through touring and TV appearances, the chanteuse gained enough popularity for her freshman effort to be certified Gold (500,000 units sold) by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2009.

For her sophomore effort “21,” released in February of this year, Adele went Platinum (one million units sold) within a month, and as of December the album has been certified Quadruple Platinum.

Look for that number to increase as the singer was just nominated for six Grammys, including the coveted Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year for 2011. The 54th annual Grammy Awards will air Feb. 12, on CBS.

The Black Keys’ new album El Camino was released on Tuesday, Dec. 6, and as an added bonus the band announced the first wave of North American tour dates.

The Ohio duo will kick off the much-anticipated tour at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati on March 2. The first leg of the tour keeps the band in the Midwest and East Coast for 15 arena dates with English band Arctic Monkeys opening.

Tickets go on sale for the general public Dec. 9, but Black Keys official mailing list members will have a chance to buy starting on Dec. 6.

The Black Keys are nominated for a Grammy this year for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Dearest off the Rave On Buddy Holly tribute album. For tour schedule: www.theblackkeys.com.

Lady Gaga has set her sights on an ambitious two-year, 450-date tour potentially starting in 2012. Gordon Smart of the U.K.’s The Sun reports that Lady Gaga is toying with the idea for the extended tour to smash the record for highest grossing and most attended tour ever, currently held by Irish band U2.

According to The Sun’s website, “She is planning to kick things off in Asia and India next year and go on a grueling world tour. As is always the case with Gaga, the plans came to her in her sleep. She has a target of 450 dates. It has never been done before, but she doesn’t think that’s a reason not to try.”

Lady Gaga has three Grammy nominations this year, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
