“Eat Local, Cook Global” is the mantra at the new Tribeca eatery, Mulberry & Vine.
Inside the casual cafe on Warren Street is a clean and spacious two-story interior with a walk up counter and upstairs seating loft with reclaimed wood tables.
Health-conscious eaters can drop by for internationally inspired breakfast, lunch, and light fare from Monday to Saturday.
Here, it’s all about letting the best, highest quality ingredients shine. Dairy, eggs, and tofu are organic and local; greens and grains too, when possible and in season. All poultry and meats are hormone- and antibiotic-free; sauces and dressings are made in house without preservatives. And instead of loading up foods with fats and oils, chef Justin Schwartz and team use local pesticide-free herbs and spices to elevate flavors.
Ordering your meal is simple: select any combination of the prepared hot and cold dishes that you desire. Then you can add a bed of seasonal greens or one of the daily soups, like chipotle gazpacho or African tomato curry.
Global flavors were apparent in the turkey meatballs spiced with garam masala, ginger, and jalapeno. The signature skin-on roasted chicken seasoned with lemon and rosemary was juicy and robust, but the vegetarian enchiladas were my lunchtime winner, with thinly sliced vegetables layered among peppery tomatillo poblano yogurt sauce. They were delicious.

A slew of prepared salads and snacks like homemade curried cashews are available to grab on the go. Beverage options include blended fruit and veggie juices from LuliTonix, Laughing Man coffee, and wines from Channing Daughters.
