That day, Divine Performing Arts (DPA) performed before an almost full house in Washington DC.
The show took the audience back into China’s 5,000-year history and then brought them back to the present time. The audience showed its appreciation of this unique feat with curtain calls and a standing ovation.
Mr. von Schirach was among those who just walked into the show without knowing what to expect, “[I liked the show} very much. I liked it. Of course I didn’t know what to expect exactly. I found it very beautiful, well-orchestrated and … very moving.”
Like so many, Mr. von Schirach was moved by the present day persecution, faced by Falun Gong practitioners in China.
He said that he moved by “Mostly, the two programs which were about the persecution, because they were conveyed with a sense of hope, possibility, and redemption, which I thought was very beautiful.
“I am not an expert by any means, but as a dilettante one can see [a] different atmosphere, especially compared to Western performances like dance and other things, it reminds [one] that there are some elements of other folk dances in the West that may be similar in some ways, but this is unique,” he said.
The orchestra was also very impressive in Mr. von Schirach’s eyes, so he introduced himself to the conductor, “It was great. I just talked to the conductor and congratulated her. It was really good, good blend of both Western and Eastern instruments.
