Mother and Baby Whale Spotted in California
In this stunning aerial footage, a baby whale swims around its mother at Dana Point, California.
Photographer Matt Larmand captured the moment on Jan. 13. in which the mother and its calf can be seen occasionally breaking the surface for air.
Gray whales are “medium-sized whales” according to the Marine Mammal Center, and can be up to 45-feet-long. The mammals are gray with white patches, often covered with barnacles and other parasites.
They travel in groups called pods. In an Instagram post, Larmand wrote that the pair were on their journey down to Mexico.
