An early morning shooting at a house party in North Carolina on Saturday left three people dead and four others injured, authorities confirmed.

The incident happened just after midnight inside a home on Kidder Street in the coastal port city Wilmington, the Wilmington Police Department said in a statement.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a “gunfight had erupted inside the home” while a house party was ongoing and seven people were struck in the gunfire.

The identities of the victims, of which three were fatally injured, have not been released as authorities are working to notify family members and investigate the crime scene.

The conditions of those injured are unknown.

“We are still working to notify family members of this tragic event and are, therefore, unable to release the names of the victims at this time,” the department wrote in a series of tweets. “We will provide an update on the condition of the four victims at NHRMC once that information becomes available.”

Police haven’t immediately announced any arrest or identified a suspect(s) in the shooting and a motive is yet to be determined.

Wilmington Police Chief Donny Williams told WECT-TV he did not feel the public is in danger.

“Our hearts go out to all affected by this senseless violence, and we ask that anyone with information surrounding this incident please come forward so that we may find justice,” the department wrote on Twitter.
