It’s hard to imagine a singer whose voice has captivated the world more over the past few years than Michael Bublé. His love song “I just haven’t met you yet” and his 2011 Christmas album became modern classics almost overnight.
But the singer, who has sold an astounding 75 million albums, more than hundreds of other singers and bands combined, doesn’t care about success. Since his first child, Noah, was diagnosed with liver cancer back in 2016, when he was only 3 years old, nothing else has really mattered for the singer.
Can't believe my little man is 3 years old today !! Happy birthday Noah /Spider-Man. Feliz cumpleaños ! Your mommy And I love you so much ! #loveofmylife #proud #papa
Bublé’s incredible rise to fame led him to several relationships, including with actress Emily Blunt, but when he met the multi-talented Argentinian star Luisana Lopilato, he knew that he had met the love of his life.
The two were married in 2011 and Noah Bublé was born on Aug. 27, 2013, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Noah wanted so badly to play in the water, I just didn't have the heart to say No…. wrapped around his little finger! #Oklahoma #OKC #MBWorldTour
During the first couple years of his life, Noah got to tag along with his dad for incredible world tours and sold-out concert appearances to millions of adoring fans. While it might seem like a pretty charmed life, dad Michael was incredibly busy with interviews, performances, and handling social media.
It was a pretty wild ride, but Michael Bublé later admitted to TODAY Australia that despite his deep love for his firstborn son, he had been wrapped up in all the hype surrounding his career. “I lost my way, I had lost the joy. I had forgotten why I loved [making music] in the first place. I had started to let the ego and the false self into myself.”
Then everything changed. When his son’s diagnosis came in, parents Michael and Luisana’s world fell apart. “What we went through was the, THE, worst thing you could hear as a parent or a human being. I’d much rather that it had been me,” he told TODAY.
Can't believe it's been 2 years already ! Happy birthday Noah !! ❤️❤️❤️#family #proudpappa
For both of Noah’s parents, it was clear that his struggle for survival had to come first and everything else later. Their statement on Facebook explained, “We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the US… Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well.”
This was also the moment when Bublé’s priorities changed forever. “When we got the diagnosis, I remember sitting in one of the hospital rooms, I remember how clear things become to me,” the singer told TODAY. “I never wanted ego, or the narcissistic part of this business… I couldn’t stomach it anymore. I knew that life was too short and I couldn’t possibly digest any more of it.”
The thing that kept Bublé going was the love of his wife and family, along with the support of legions of fans who sent in their prayers and thoughts via social media. “We felt the love of those people. We knew they were praying for us. We knew that there was goodness out there. They gave us faith in humanity… it was just massive,” as he told TODAY.

When the doctors at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles managed to remove the tumor and stabilize Noah, things looked a whole lot better. Though Noah still has to be monitored, he’s able to live his life as a kid now. After lots of love, their little boy managed to make a recovery, and Bublé came back to his career but with a radically different attitude.
Now, spending time with Noah and his other children Elias and Vida is the most important thing. “I want to be a good dad, a good family dude, who happens to love making music.” As for being a celebrity, Bublé just doesn’t keep track anymore. “Ignorance has become the greatest bliss for me. I could have never imagined that I could be this free and this happy,” he told TODAY.
A profound lesson from a father who went through the worst about what’s really important in life!
