What does Valentine’s Day mean to you? For some, it’s the epitome of romance: hearts, flowers, expensive dinners, and myriad gestures of love and affection. For others it’s the perfect day to hibernate with a big box of chocolates (for one!), tissues, and a classic romantic comedy.
However, for Melania Trump, the day holds a different priority. Philanthropist Melania, who holds children’s charities particularly close to her heart, spent Feb. 14, 2019, with a group of young patients at the National Institute of Health’s “Children’s Inn,” in Maryland.
The fashionable First Lady, keen to stay topical, wore a gorgeous rose-pink outfit comprising a scoop neck dress, matching trench coat, and elegant pink pumps. The young patients were clearly starstruck by the beautiful First Lady’s visit, and all were charmed by her beauty, grace, and the huge, genuine smile she wore throughout the duration of her visit.
The Daily Mail posted photos of Melania, showing the First Lady wearing “head-to-toe pink” on the day, including her amazing $1,795 pale pink coat by designer Cedric Charlier.
Spending time with disadvantaged children and using her status to help raise visibility for deserving causes is a high priority for Melania.
The First Lady wrote about her day on social media: “Loved sharing an afternoon with such sweet valentines!” she gushed. “Your bravery, strength, and love is amazing. Thank you to @The ChildrensInn and @NIH for the lifesaving work you are doing! #HappyValentinesDay.”

A video of the visit uploaded by The Washington Post shows a glowing Melania speaking with the young patients at the Children’s Inn. She makes a fast friend by offering a compliment to one teenage girl: “I love your scarf and jacket,” the First Lady said. “Very fashionable!”
“How long have you been here?” Melania continued. The teen revealed that she’d been in the hospital for five months but was due to return home soon. “Fantastic,” Melania smiled, learning that the young girl had also been able to stay at the hospital with her mother throughout the duration of her treatment. A mother herself, the First Lady was obviously touched.

Melania, despite her elegantly styled designer outfit, was certainly not afraid to get crafty! The bulk of the afternoon was spent keeping busy by making Valentine’s Day cards and treats with the children. “Everyone is so creative!” Melania exclaimed.
The conscientious First Lady, to the young patients’ delight, had also brought her own personalized Valentine’s Day cards to the event. She gifted each of the children with a signed card before she left.
