Martina Hingis, the retired tennis player, has married French showjumper Thibault Hutin in a private ceremony in Paris on Friday, Dec. 10, according to SonntagsBlick.

“Our wedding may take some by surprise, but it has all been planned for some time,” Hingis told the Swiss newspaper.

The ceremony took place at Hotel George V in Neuilly-sur-Seine, with the honeymoon expected to take place in the Maldives and a traditional Swiss wedding feast planned for next spring, People magazine reported.

The couple will be looking for a house in Switzerland in January, according to an exclusive interview with Hingis in Schweizer Illustrierte, a Swiss celebrity magazine.

The 30-year-old former world number one met Hutin, 24, at a showjumping competition in St. Tropez in April, after she ended her engagement to Andreas Bieri, an attorney.

Hingis retired in 2007, after winning five Grand Slam singles titles, when she received a two-year suspension for testing positive for cocaine at Wimbledon, which she denied. She has ridden show horses for most of her life.
