A man was attacked outside a subway station in Manhattan on Saturday morning, according to police, who released a picture of the suspect.

The incident took place at around 11:40 a.m. local time as the victim, 29, was exiting the Union Square station near 14th Street.

“The individual approached him from behind and used an unknown object to slash the victim on his back,” police said in a statement, Gothamist reported.

The victim then chased the suspect into the station but the suspect got on a 6 train heading north to “parts unknown,” police added.

The suspect is still at large. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for injuries.

The suspect was described as 35-40 years of age, Hispanic, with a light complexion. He was wearing dark sunglasses and a camouflage shirt. He’s at least partially balding.

Police told the New York Post that the two men didn’t interact with each other before the attack, and it appears random.
