An 18-wheel tanker caught fire and spewed out an enormous fiery billow after a collision with a vehicle.

“Holy moly!” commented Jayson R Gilger, who shot a video of the giant blazing plume as it gradually extended closer and closer to his position.

The crash occurred on Zeigler Boulevard near Athey Road around 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, in Mobile, Alabama, according to Mobile Fire-Rescue.
The tanker was filled with gasoline, the driver told the firefighters.
The other vehicle involved in the crash was a jeep, WKRG reported.

“For the safety of the public, teams of fire personnel evacuated civilians from homes and businesses in the immediate vicinity of the burning truck,” a statement from Mobile Fire-Rescue read. “Incident Command immediately upgraded the scene to a 2nd alarm, and additional units, including MFRD HazMat, were dispatched to the area.”

It took several hours and large amounts of water and foam to subdue the fire.

No injuries were reported.
