‘MAGA’ Baby Born in Chick-fil-A Bathroom
A baby was born in the bathroom of a Chick-fil-A in Texas on Tuesday night, according to the father.
Dubbed the “MAGA,” or “Make America Great Again” baby—by some, father Robert Griffin wrapped the girl in his “Trump 2020” t-shirt after she was born at a Chick-fil-A, in Stone Ridge, San Antonio.
Griffin said he and his wife were on the way to the hospital around 10 p.m. but had arranged to pass their children over to a friend at the restaurant before going to the hospital.
“By the time we got to the restaurant, Maggie was in active labor and said she REALLY had to go to the bathroom. But it was after 10 p.m. and Chick-fil-A was closed. After banging on the glass, the staff answered the door and let Maggie in,” Griffin wrote in a Facebook post.
“I loaded the kids into our friend’s car, kissed them goodnight, and went in to find Maggie. The manager said, ‘She’s in the restroom and she’s screaming.’”
Griffin said that he shouted to the manager to call 911 after he saw how his wife was going into labor and then took off his “Trump 2020” shirt to use as a towel.
He helped his wife through the labor and ushered the arrival of his new daughter, Gracelyn Mae Violet Griffin, into the world.
“I couldn’t control it,” Maggie Griffin told Kens 5. “basically [I] straddled the toilet—I wasn’t even sitting down. I was literally standing giving birth, with one hand on the wall and one hand holding her head.”
First responders arrived soon after and rushed the mother and child to the hospital.
“For all the chaos, we all did amazing. Cut the chord while still in the bathroom, kept Gracie stable and mom calm, and it all worked out….not as planned, but everyone’s healthy,” Robert Griffin wrote.
“Her birth certificate reads ‘Born in Chick-fil-A’ and The hospital had me sign the birth certificate as the attending physician. I think it’s pretty ironic that a proud conservative, Christian family would have a baby in a Chick-fil-A, and wrapped in a Trump 2020 T-shirt!” he added.
Chick-fil-A has gifted the newborn meals for life and offered to give her her first job when she turns 16 years old.
