Liam Payne apologized over allegedly video footage of One Direction bandmates Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.

The two were allegedly videotaped smoking marijuana, and Payne went on Twitter to try and deal with it.

Payne, 20, posted a message on Twitter about the video, which shows the two in Peru.

“I love my boys and maybe things have gone a little sideways I apologise for that,” he tweeted. “We are only in our 20s and we all do stupid things at this age.”

The video appears to show Tomlinson and Malik passing what appears to be a joint around inside of a smoke-filled car.

“So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit,” Tomlinson says.

Payne also slammed a Daily Mail reporter.

“Just read a Daily Mail article written by Jan Moir some of which I totally agree with but some things you are far off your game my friend,” Payne said. “Thank you for your lovely words Mrs. Moir sorry we let you down so fantastically maybe next time a little research is in order.”

“Like so many writers before, consistently get things wrong looking down their noises thinking they are oh so right,” Payne added, according to the NY Daily News.

This week, Simon Cowell said that the band “hasn’t lost the plot” and won’t break up.

“What I can say is that they’re the hardest-working boys I’ve ever worked with,” Cowell told Digital Spy. “They still haven’t changed. They’re really respectful of their fans [and] they’re a great British export... they’ve been a joy to work with. I’ve worked with a lot of artists in the past who do lose the plot, who do lose respect for their fans, they’ve never done that.”
