LOS ANGELES—Mr. and Mrs. Goldberg didn’t know quite what to expect when they bought their tickets to see the Los Angeles Divine Performing Arts show, but by the end, they were eager to see the show again.

Mrs. Goldberg is a professional violinist who has played with different orchestras; she was interested in the mix of Chinese and Western instruments in the orchestra, and how the orchestra interacted with the dancers.

“The music is beautiful, with the Western instruments as well as the ancient Chinese influence, it’s just… I’ve never really experienced it before. I’ve enjoyed listening to the orchestra as well; it’s really keeping the artists very involved. It’s just making the whole story, just the music alone; it’s helping tell the story.

“It’s an excellent show, absolutely excellent. It was beautiful, and the colours are great, and there’s a lot of talent. It was nice to see the costumes from the beginning to now, nowadays. I am just really enjoying it; I’m just really amazed. It’s great.

”I would definitely come again—absolutely. I’m excited, I’m waiting.”

Mr. Goldberg is a computer engineer, but even coming from a technical background, he found the artistry engaging.

“I enjoyed both the music and the dance,” he said. “I’m interested in Chinese and ancient culture, because I lived in Japan … so I was interested in the Chinese. This came along so I wanted to give it a try, and I’ve been enjoying it.

“I’m intrigued by all the different instruments that are non-Western … I’m interested in that guitar-type of instrument, because it has such an interesting sound to it.
