Two people, Bobby Maggard and Scotty Elam, died while working inside a barn when lightning hit the building.

The barn was in Madison County, near Garrard County, reported WKYT.

Daryl Hodge, the Garrard County Coroner, said that it happened on Oscar Ray Road near Buckeye.

The National Weather Service said the strike hit around 1:30 p.m. local time.

Emergency crews had a hard time getting to the barn initially because of high water levels.
