Sunday's landslide near Medellin, Colombia, might have buried up to 200 people, officials say.

An AFP report on Relief Web stated that Red Cross relief workers in the town of Bello, which is north of Medellin, said that the initial count of missing people totaled between 150 and 200 people.

Cesar Uruena, a Red Cross operations deputy director, explains in the report, “The landslide buried 10 houses each of them with three stories. Because on Sundays people usually have their family over for lunch, we think that on average there were between 15 and 20 people in each house."

Uruena, further said that so far, they have found only three survivors. The local wesite Colombia Reports stated that after some rescue efforts, so far 20 bodies have been recovered using only spades and picks. Heavy rainfall was attributed as a main cause of the landslide.
