HONG KONG—The weekend saw a new round of BOC Life HKFA Premier League games, starting with Friday night’s (Jan 20) game between bottom-placed HKFC and KMB Yuen Long. Despite KMB Yuen Long dominating the play and chances, the sides entered the half time break at nil-all.

KMB Yuen Long started the second half quickly, first scoring in the 48th minute when Diego Higino fed Stefan Pereira on the half way line, from which he sped away into the penalty box before firing past the advancing goalkeeper Issey Maholo, and quickly following up in the 52nd minute when Yip Tsz-chun played a through ball to Aleksander Randelovic who advanced into the penalty box before chipping the ball over the advancing Maholo. KMB Yeun Long added a third in the 71st minute when Fabio Alcontara headed in Pereira’s corner kick. HKFC had a rare chance when Frederick Schipper fired wide, but KMB Yuen Long held out for the 3-nil victory.

In Saturday’s (Jan 21) early game, Kwoon Chung Southern entertained Kitchee at the Aberdeen Sports Ground,and surprised the league leaders courtesy of a 49th minute winner from Michael Luk when he went on an individual run before advancing and driving the ball into the net for a 1-nil win

In the later game at Tai Po Sports Ground Wo Foo Tai Po held Eastern Long Lions to a 1-all draw. Eastern Long Lions took the lead in the  9th minute when Jaimes Mckee finished Tsing Kam-to’s cross, but Wo Foo Tai Po equalised in the 81st minute when Wong Wai scored with a cross shot.

In the day’s late game Hong Kong Pegasus took on Lee Man Rangers at Hong Kong Stadium.. Lee Man Rangers went out to a 3-nil lead courtesy of a 45th minute finish by Clayton Alonso from Cheung Kin-fung’s free kick, and a Jorge Tarres brace in the 47th and 54th minutes. However, Hong Kong Pegasus clawed back some respectability through a 75th minute on goal from Chiu Chun-kit, and an injury time free kick from Joao Emir to give Lee Man Rangers a 3-2 victory.

On Sunday (Jan 22) BC Glory Sky played South China at Hammer Hill Road Sports Ground.

South China took an early lead and never looked back, scoring their first in the 9th minute when Leung Nok-hang headed home from a corner kick, and then added a brace from Marko Perovic firstly when he was fed by Awal Mahama in the 51st minute before advancing and firing home, and then converting an 81st minute free kick.

Kitchee and Eastern Long Lions are joint leaders of the BOC Life HKFA Premier League with 27 points, though Eastern Long Lions having a game in hand having played 11 games to Kitchee’s 12.
