The wife of Kevin Hart, Eniko Parrish, said that her husband is “great” and is “going to be just fine” after he was injured in a weekend car crash.
Parrish told E! News on Sept. 2 that “he’s good. Everybody’s good.”
According to TMZ, Parrish, 35, said outside the hospital that Hart is “fine” and is “awake.”
The same TMZ report, citing a source close to the comedian, said that Hart underwent back surgery and is recovering in the hospital.
Hart was a passenger inside his vintage Plymouth Barracuda in a crash in Southern California, People magazine reported. His friend, Jared Black, lost control of the vehicle and hit wooden fencing before 1 a.m. on Mulholland Highway in Malibu, California Highway Patrol told People magazine.
The crash left Hart, 40, with “major back injuries,” the CHP told CBS Los Angeles.
According to the CBS report, Black and passenger Rebecca Broxterman were trapped inside the vehicle, but Hart was able to leave and get medical attention at his home. Hart and Black were taken to a nearby hospital.
The driver wasn’t under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
The California Highway Patrol confirmed Hart sustained injuries in the 12:45 a.m. crash, reported ABC7. It took place around Mulholland Highway and Cold Canyon Road.
“Two of the three occupants were trapped inside,” the CHP added to the LA Times. “The remaining occupant and the owner of the vehicle, Kevin Hart, left the scene to his nearby residence to get medical attention.”
Hart hasn’t made a comment about the accident.
His last post on Instagram was a picture of him jumping into a pool. “Being home makes me happy….enjoy your weekend people!!!! #LiveLoveLaugh,” it said.
A number of celebrities wished him well on social media following the incident.
His “Jumanji” co-star, Dwayne Johnson, wrote: “Stop messing with my emotions brother @kevinhart4real. We have a lot more laughing to do together. Love you man. Stay strong.”
