Kanye West Stepbrother Says Kanye ‘Controls’ Kim Kardashian and North West

December 2, 2014 Updated: July 18, 2015

Rapper Kanye West controls where Kim Kardashian travels to because he’s afraid for her safety, according to his step-brother.

“Kanye constantly worries about Kim and North because he knows the kidnap risk is high,” Hal Carmichael told Heat magazine.

“Because of the lifestyle they lead, he has to think about it carefully nowadays,” he added.

“Kanye controls Kim, like where she travels and what she does, to protect her. He thinks the more the public see of them, the more at risk they are.”

Despite Kim being a reality television star who is in the spotlight, Kanye tries to keep his 34-year-old wife around as few people as possible.

“Kanye and Kim want to be the next big power couple and that comes from exposure,” Hal explained.

“Kim being on television is a compromise, but Kanye knows that’s her career and he’ll support her. Kanye keeps his inner circle tight – with North she’ll only be looked after by her grandmother Kris [Jenner] or her aunties.

“They have a nanny as well, but North is kept around family. Kanye does this to protect her.”

Hal, whose mother Cheryl married Kanye’s father Ray in 1997, added that the family always has two security guards with them and they drive around in an armored vehicle.

Hal’s comments are unverified, and could be dubious since Kanye said in the past his stepbrother was a crack head.

“I saved up all my money to get a sampler and I remember I had my stepbrother at the time, was living with him, and he told me like, ‘Look, if you let me borrow this money, I’ll give you $20 interest on it,'” he recalled in a radio interview last year.

“But then when I was getting close to it, he wasn’t really getting me the money back. I remember my stepfather had told me one time, ‘Don’t ever loan him anything’… Come to find out he’s a crack head and I didn’t know it.”
