Comedian Dan Nainan was arrested for punching Josh Rogin, a senior correspondent for Newsweek Daily Beast, in the face at DC Improv on Wednesday night, according to Rogin.

At least one of the punches was to the face, according to Rogin.

Rogin was at DC Improv watching “Funniest Celebrity in Washington DC Contest”  and tweeting about it.

After Nainan started performing, Rogin made two comments about Nainan not being funny.

“Dan Nainan was funny until he dusted off his 2005 Katrina jokes in a gratingly bad GWB impression,” he said in one of his tweets.

About 10 minutes after his second tweet--or around 9:15 p.m. EDT--Rogin said that he was punched in the face by Nainan.

“Dan Nainan just punched me in the face. Not a joke,” he tweeted.

Four minutes later, he said: “We are calling the police on Dan Nainan who just punched me twice in front of several witnesses.”

NextGen correspondent Michelle Fields said that Rogin was punched three times by Nainan.

Rogin later said that Nainan was arrested for assaulting him.

DC Improv is at 1140 Connecticut Avenue NW.
