Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew was charged with battery, according to reports on Tuesday. There were conflicting reports as to whether he was arrested.

The St. Augustine Police Department charged Jones-Drew with misdemeanor battery in connection with an incident on Sunday at the Conch House, located in St. Augustine, Fla.

First Coast News reported that he was asked to return to the city to face questioning, a police department spokesperson said.

TMZ reported that Jones-Drew is accused of punching and knocking out a security guard at the Conch House.

According to a police report, a friend of Jones-Drew was told to stop touching a woman. The friend, who was not named, “slapped” a security guard on the chest, reported TMZ. A fight then broke out, which later involved Jones-Drew.

The friend was placed in a headlock by the guard and Jones-Drew threw a closed-fist punch at the guard, knocking him out.

The guard’s jaw was reportedly “swollen a great deal and had a large lump on his jaw bone.”

While some reports suggest that Jones-Drew was arrested, SB Nation, which obtained the police report, said no arrests have been made yet.
