Colleen LaRose tried to kill herself in 2005 while despondent over the death of her father, according to police reports. She combined muscle relaxants and alcohol.

LaRose was indicted by a Pennsylvania grand jury for conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, conspiracy to kill, and other crimes. The indictment describes a video she posted on YouTube in which she called herself “Jihad Jane,” and said she was “desperate to do something somehow to help” the suffering Muslim people.

LaRose had an arrest record for DUI and for writing a bad check in 1997 in Texas, according to news reports.
