Presenting items from a variety of prominent estates and collections, the sale offers jewelry spanning the Antique, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Modern eras by some of the world’s most prestigious makers, including Cartier, David Webb, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Tiffany & Co.
Also featured will be objets de vertu, including elegant compacts, cigarette cases, cufflinks, and watches by Patek Philippe, Cartier and Rolex.
The international auction market has been unusually strong for jewelry at all price levels, according to Doyle New York.
Diamond and Gold
Highlights from the sale include a platinum and diamond ring, made of a rectangular step-cut diamond, approximately 16.74 carats (estimate: $125,000-$175,000), and a pair of diamond stud earrings, 14 carat white gold, set with two round diamonds around 10.03 carats (estimate: $30,000-$50,000).
An exquisite David Webb gold, platinum and diamond bib necklace, from the estate of Florence P. Shientag (estimate: $20,000-$30,000) is a master piece of intertwining, vine-like gold and diamond leaves.
The platinum, diamond and ribbon choker by Cartier is a stylish piece, featuring a garland design set over a dusty rose-colored ribbon with 450 diamonds, signed by Cartier (estimate $20,000 - $30,000).
Mixed Jewels
There are some impressively colorful pieces, boasting rich combinations of rubies, diamonds, turquoise, gold and platinum by David Webb. From the estate of Florence P. A nice match to the brooch, or fabulous on its own is the beautiful 18 ct. David Webb gold, platinum, turquoise and ruby necklace (estimate: $12,000-$18,000). It’s made with hammered gold, a fancy-shaped open frame and links centering 15 graduating oval cabochon turquoise, flanked by 18 round rubies, joined by hammered gold circle links.
Lower Priced Pieces
Also included in the sale are many lesser-priced items, like a platinum-carved diamond ring by Cartier (estimate: $3,000-$4,000) and an antique diamond necklace, with sterling silver on gold, composed of 45 collet-set-old-mine cut diamonds, within an openwork frame, accented by numerous single-cut diamonds, around 9.5 cts. (estimate: $5,000-$7,000).
